Based recommendations from the Centre for Disease Control, and later adapted to incorporate the work of Professor Karl Friston of University College London, our Traffic Light System calls for a proportionate approach to Covid-19 risk mitigation within schools which is dependent on localised infection rates.

  • 15% of children in classrooms at any one time
  • Additional staff and spaces where required to meet the above
  • Schools have clear risk assessments and those should be adhered to, otherwise, keep children at home
  • Adequate risk assessed PPE in schools

10-50 cases per 100k people in past 7 days

  • Blended learning
  • 30% of children in classrooms at any one time
  • Schools have clear risk assessments and those should be adhered to, otherwise, keep children at home
  • Adequate risk assessed PPE in schools

Less than 10 case per 100k people in past 7 days

  • Schools can operate as normal
