Equality Act 2010

Disability is a protected characteristic.

Many Disabed children are at high risk of developing complications from Covid-19 due to their varying medical conditions and are excluded from state education in Autumn under the Govt’s current plan for a mass full scale return to schools as enclosed, crowded places increase the chance for virus infection and this leaves the parents no option but to withdraw their children.

Given that the Govt has not put in place any plans for remote or blended learning, many parents of disabled children will not receive remote teaching support/resources from school when the schools return in September, unless their child’s individual school has the resources to put such things in place. This is very much a postcode lottery for these families.
